Cooking Glass
The process of making glass has remained largely the same for several thousand years. Despite all the added modern technology and new materials, it still remains both an art and a science. It is an art because the forms and colors available, using glass as a medium, are limited only by the imagination of the artist. Glass making still thrives in many places because of its value as an art medium. It is very much a scientific process whether one is producing glass on an industrial scale or artistic scale. The precise amount of heat necessary and the wide range of ingredients mixed to make each type of glass require the skills of a chemist or a fine chef. The following video relates the formulas for various types of glass used in a wide range of products.
